Little Portugal - SOS Message to The World

        Who knows that small country placed on the southwest tip of Europe? A few centuries ago it turned to be a great Empire, all over the world! Nowadays there´s still enough evidence of that, being the portuguese, the most spoken language on the southern hemisphere. The Portuguese comunity is known, worldwide, as hard workers and self-made men. Unfortunately our homeland politicians have taken all the measures possible, to kill this value...

        Over the last 2 decades, and after the link of Portugal to the European Union, many structural funds rolled in, so that Portugal could invest on creating growth structures. Being a country of great resourses, instead of making profit of it, these funds were used with no control or political planning. There are numberless examples of funds to destroy many of our original products... There are many examples of funds misused. While these funds were wasted, portuguese people lived in the illusion that we were on the good track and Portugal was investing on the well being of its population. Lots of public construction was on its way... The initial budget for each construction was always exceeded (twice, triple and more). Political and Economic powers were mixed up. There was a great group of portuguese that saw its incoming budget rise exponentially, with no work. Lots of foundations, public and "private-public" institutes were created. Jobs for the boys... many boys... The same guys that were governing the country, sooner or later, were on the administration of these enterprises. It turned out to be a closed circle, with the same guys apearing every once in a while as a politician or as a public-private administrator... Portuguese people were living on a snoose... It seemed like we were taking a nap on a pot with warm water, that was at the oven. It felt so good the confort of that tepid water. Unfortunatelly there was the oven heating up. The water sarted boiling... and there´s no way out... if this government and the IMF continues with the same strategy!!! Why... because the Economic and Political circle continues getting weight, destroying the country, destroying that real image that portuguese are hard workers, leading to a new wave of emigration of all the qualified and non-qualified workers!!!

        Portugal became so little... and lost all its sovereignty!!! At this rate will be vaporized in a few years. The Economic/Public Power Circle it´s getting bigger and bigger, richer and richer with milionaire wages. Poor are getting poorer and the middle class is disapearing. I have been a teacher since I was 19 years old (over 20 years). I studied and graduated to be a teacher. When turned 16 years old (1987) I had the chance to work in New York for 4 months. I worked on "Big Apple Beer Distributor", distributting beer in a truck (with a great grey haired Irish Partner called Norton) over many of Manhattan´s restaurants and bars. I had a small wage compared with the U.S. common workers. The truth is that this was 25 years ago... and my monthly paycheck was higher than today. Luckily, in Portugal, I´m considered as earning too much money, so you can imagine all the portuguese that are unemployed or earn beneath the $500 a month. And these are the guys that have to pay to the international creditors, the dept caused by the greed of politician and economic power.

- Chancellor Angela Merkel receives about 220,000.00 Euros per year;
- The president of CGD (Portugal´s public bank) received 560,012.80 Euros;
- The Vice-President of CGD received 558,891.00 Euros;
- The president of CGD earn per month 50 years of average salary for each Portuguese.

Example 3:
 - The Prime Minister receives about 100,000.00 Euros per year;
 - The Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Parpública SGPS" (Public-Private Enterprise) received 249,896.78 Euros;
 - The Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Parpública SGPS" earn per month 22.3 years of average salary for each Portuguese.

Example 4:
 - The President of the Republic receives approximately 140,000.00 Euros per year;
 - The Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Águas de Portugal" (Portugal Water Management Institute) received 205,814.00 Euros;
 - The Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Águas de Portugal" earns per month 18.4 years of average salary for each Portuguese;

Example 5:
 - French President receives approximately 250,000.00 Euros per year;
 - The Chairman of Directors of "CTT - Correios de Portugal, SA" (Portugal Mail) received 336,662.59 Euros;
 - The Chairman of Directors of "CTT Correios de Portugal, SA" wins per month 30 years of average salary for each Portuguese.

Example 6:
 - Prime Minister David Cameron receives about 250,000.00 Euros per year;
 - The Chairman of the Board of Directors of "RTP" (Portugal´s Public Television) received 254,314.00 Euros ..."
